As the Years of My husband's retirement started closing in, it crossed my mind that my husband, being in the private sector, wouldn't be eligible for any pension after retirement. Pension has been the life line of millions of families in India. Also, our country doesn't have any system of Social Security, which is prevalent in advanced countries, for the care of its citizens during old age, including all medical facilities. It became almost every days discussion between my husband and I as to how we should plan our investments so that we do not land into any catastrophic financial crisis. Almost everyday, there were phone calls from different insurance agencies, from different financial institutions, advising us and proposing us our future retirement plans. Innumerable leaflets, brochures, mails landed on our tables, suggesting investments.

Many of these proposals were definitely lucrative, we were still in dilemma, regarding our decision to keep our money in safe hands. She came then, very timid, very shy, but stubbornly confident, opened her Pandora box of LIC policies. Patiently, she unfolded one by one, explaining meticulously the pros and cons of each and every line, the intricate "between the lines" explanations.

She cared for us, framed our requirements and unfolded in front of us, the various policies which would benefit us during our tryst with retired life. We caved in and gave her our surrender, our investments to LIC, through our best friend, Srimati Geeta Mohan.

We do not regret, the best returns during all financial crisis, and during the Pandemic Years, LIC has been our most reliable "FRIEND IN NEED".

When I reached Visakhapatnam, to lead the construction of Sinter Plant at Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, I was determined that this would be my last commissioning because, I would be retiring from my long long service career in the year 2017. At the same time, it was necessary to prepare a solid base of investments that would ensure a smooth sail of expenses that I would predominantly require to carry on for the rest of our life. The expenses would mostly be on medical protection, including major hospitalization for self and my wife.

While we were parking most of our investments in the market and the conventional fixed deposits, a Lady with the Lamp appeared before us, just as a Fairy with a Magic Lamp !

Soft spoken, ever smiling, determined and strong in conviction, she explained us the very essence of what exactly it means to invest the life's hard earned money into the hands of the most reliable and secured professionals, wherein we will be fully protected from all eventualities for the rest of our life.

She introduced us to LIC's different policies and explained meticulously each and every aspect of them. She advised us with a pointer, which policies would suit us most and explained how much we should invest so that monthly expenses during our retired life will be more than sufficient, keeping in mind our urge to travel extensively.

This Fairy and the Lady with the Lamp is non other than Srimati. Geeta Mohan, who carved our future so beautifully. Today, even under severe duress, it is her professed LIC which protects us from severity . We profusely wish Srimati Geeta Mohan all the success in all her endeavours. Her cool grit will definitely go a long way in ensuring the future of innumerable lives.
